questions

  • I work with individual adults from all walks of life.

  • First, contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. I can answer your questions, we can get to know each other, and I’ll help you decide if I’m the right fit for you.

If we both decide to move forward, I’ll send you paperwork to complete electronically through my secure portal. Once all of your paperwork has been completed, we will schedule our first session. I know intake forms can feel overwhelming, but completing paperwork ahead of time gives me time to review everything before we meet. This saves us a lot of time in our first session so we can focus on the important stuff!

In our following sessions, we can focus our time around the things you’d like to address that would make a positive impact on your life.

  • Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for me to review paperwork and gather a comprehensive picture of what brings you in to see me. You’ll have a chance to share about your personal history, what’s bothering you now, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. I’ll address any questions or concerns you have about therapy, and we’ll start developing a plan to move forward with.

If we both agree to continue working together after this first session, we’ll continue the therapy process during our following sessions. If for any reason you or I don’t feel that we are the best fit for each other, I’ll provide you with referrals that might be a good fit for your needs.

  • Our first session will be approximately 90 minutes. Following sessions will be approximately 50-55 minutes.

Studies show that therapy is most powerful when it takes place weekly, especially at the beginning of treatment. If you’re looking for the greatest transformation, committing to weekly appointments is important. Occasionally, it may be appropriate to meet more or less often, depending on your needs. We can decide together what might work best for you.

  • Depending on your needs and goals, we can discuss what timeframe would be most helpful to you. Generally, you can attend therapy as long as you feel it is helpful and it continues to address the issues that are getting in the way of healthy functioning.

Many people make significant progress very quickly. Sometimes, change takes time. Much of the timing depends on the intensity of what’s going on for you, as well as your willingness to invest in your treatment and put into practice the things we are working on together.

  • You don’t have to! My clients tell me that my approach is gentle, and I respectfully handle even the most tender of their experiences. You get to decide if we talk about something, or if a topic is off-limits. We take things at your pace in a way that feels safe and and honoring to you.

  • Nope! Many people worry about this before beginning therapy, but I assure you that you are not crazy. All of my clients who have had this fear initially say that they quickly felt accepted, supported, encouraged, and uplifted by our work together.

My belief is that the things you are thinking, feeling, and experiencing are perfectly understandable given what you’ve been through. And we can work to take a compassionate look at all of that, so that you can leave behind what’s not working for you, and grow to love all of the things that make you, YOU! Because whether or not you know it yet, you're a pretty awesome human.
